Solo High Performance Sport Lapping Sessions

  • PREREQUISITE HPDE and Coaching Session resulting in a solo upgrade, and sport lapping at Pacific Raceways within the last 12 months. If you have been sport lapping at other locations, please contact us to see if your experience qualifies.

Join the more than 4,000 strong recreational high performance sport lapping enthusiasts who enjoy the thrills and improve their skills driving the turns and elevation changes of Pacific Raceways. Register for any of the high performance sport lapping sessions, and you will find yourself tuning out the outside world and turning on your brain and reflexes as you continually improve your relationship with your car.

Solo sport lapping sessions are available at ProFormance to drivers who have completed our One-Day High Performance Driving Experience (HPDE) and have obtained their High Performance Sport Driving License in a required follow-up coaching session that enables them to drive solo on the track. Drivers active in the high performance driving community may be allowed to participate in lapping sessions too. Please contact our office to verify if your experience qualifies. Each session has a limited car count to provide drivers with the best possible experience.

What to Expect

We offer several different durations of lapping sessions to fit your schedule, and every one of them begins with a mandatory driver’s meeting. During the meeting you will find out any guidelines relevant to that day’s session, along with time-honored reminders learned during HPDE and reviewed during your coaching session. All event registrations include the time of the driver’s meeting and the on-track lapping schedule.

Come Prepared

Driving your own car is recommended, however track cars are available to rent.

  • Participants must ensure that their car is in proper mechanical condition for lapping. Complete the Pre-Lapping Checklist to ensure you are ready to drive when you arrive.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early if you are renting a ProFormance track car to allow time for fitting.
  • All drivers at solo sport lapping sessions must wear helmets with a Snell SA2020 or later certification. If you do not have one, you may rent one for the day from ProFormance.
  • Bring your High Performance Sport Driving License and Driver’s Logbook which you earned during your coaching session. The sport driving license is your credential to drive solo at Pacific Raceways, and the logbook is a working instrument that you should keep in your car so you can track your progress.

Find the Right Lapping Session for You

Various sport lapping session durations and times are available throughout the year, and most are offered Wednesday through Sunday. Explore the Upcoming Lapping Session opportunities in the sidebar or check our Calendar to find specific times and durations for each event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Registration and Schedule

Can I move my reservation to another date?

Please email or text us to request a new date, and we will move your reservation to the date of your choice, provided it falls within the same calendar year as your original booking. Reservations may be moved a maximum of two times; after that, we will process a refund, and a new reservation will be required.

What if I need to cancel?

We require 8 days’ notice for cancellation either by email or text. Failure to notify our office prior to 8 days before your scheduled date will result in forfeiture of tuition. No refunds, exchanges, or credits are given for cancellations less than 8 days from the scheduled date.

What happens if it rains or snows on my scheduled date?

Rain is a great learning environment, and the school operates rain or shine. Clients are always amazed at how much they learn driving in wet weather and how much fun they have. We do not cancel an event for rain.

During the winter months, ProFormance may cancel an event up to 3 days prior due to forecasted snow, ice, or flooding. Our first and foremost priority is safety. If the circuit is not usable, we will offer you dates to reschedule or a full refund if you are unable to select a suitable date.

How do I keep my Sport Driving License up to date?

Keep your solo High Performance Sport Driving License valid by attending at least one lapping session per year. Depending on your experience, if you have not attended a lapping event in the last year, we may require you to sign up for a 45-minute coaching session to get you up to speed. If it’s been more than two years, you may be required to take HPDE to sharpen your skills. If you have been sport lapping at other facilities, and remain well-practiced at sport lapping, a refresher may not be necessary. Please contact our office to see if your experience qualifies you to return to solo sport lapping without a review session.

Safety and Driving Concerns

Do I need a helmet?

Drivers must wear a helmet with a Snell SA2020 or later certification any time they are on track. If you do not own one, you can rent one from ProFormance. Our helmets are 2020 Snell-approved, open-face models, equipped with radio communication. When you decide this sport is something you want to do regularly, we’ll steer you to knowledgeable companies who can assist you in obtaining safety equipment for you and your car.

Will I be safe at ProFormance? Will my car get damaged?

At ProFormance, safety is our top priority. Our instructors are dedicated to providing a fun, educational, and safe experience. Failure is not an option. Since our opening day in 1994, training thousands of drivers, we have never had two cars make contact with each other.

However, motorsports carry inherent risks. Any driver involved in an incident is responsible for the costs of damage to the track surface, track facilities, towing, fire/rescue services, and cleanup, including dry sweep.

Will my car’s automobile insurance policy cover me for sport lapping sessions at ProFormance?

Insurance policies vary, and the best approach is to read your policy. You will probably find a section that deals with training and events conducted at a racing facility. However, sport lapping on a track without an instructor may not be covered by all standard car insurance plans. Check your specific policy for details or contact your auto insurance agent.

Additional options for on-track sport lapping coverage are HagertyLockton Affinity, or On-Track.

Sharing the Fun

Are passengers allowed?

ProFormance does not allow passengers on the track. This is a national safety standard driven by our insurance carrier and our professional approach.

Can two participants share one car for a sport lapping session?

Yes! Two or more drivers may share one car for solo sport lapping sessions, purchase one ticket per car and include names of all drivers on your order.
